How long does it take to create my garment?

Creating a bespoke garment is a journey of craftsmanship and dedication, with each piece uniquely tailored to your style and preferences. On average, our garments take about six weeks from concept to completion. This timeframe allows for meticulous attention to detail at every stage of the process, ensuring that your garment is a true reflection of your individuality.

If you select from our pre-designed made-to-fit collection, your garment may be ready within the six-week timeline, as these designs already have an established pattern. However, if you opt for a bespoke piece, designed entirely from scratch to meet your specific requirements, additional time may be needed to create a personalized design, source materials, and craft your one-of-a-kind garment.

During this period, we take care to ensure every detail is perfected—from the initial measurements to the final quality assurance checks. Our team of skilled artisans is committed to delivering garments of exceptional quality, crafted with the finest materials and designed to fit you perfectly.

We understand that receiving a custom-made garment is a special experience, and we aim to make the journey as seamless and enjoyable as possible. While six weeks is our general timeline, we will keep you informed throughout the process and ensure your garment is delivered to you promptly and in pristine condition.

Thank you for your patience as we create a garment that is truly yours. We look forward to exceeding your expectations with our craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Creating a bespoke garment is an intricate journey, each step carefully crafted to ensure your garment is a perfect reflection of luxury and quality. From initial measurements to the moment your custom piece arrives at your door, our process is designed with meticulous attention to detail. Here’s a closer look at the seven stages involved in bringing your bespoke garment to life:

Stage 1: Confirmation of Measurements

The first stage is crucial. To create a garment that fits you perfectly, we need accurate measurements. We request multiple measurements to capture the nuances of your body shape. It’s essential that you take your time when providing these details, as they form the foundation for the rest of the process.

Stage 2: Cast Creation

Once you’ve selected your dream garment and supplied your measurements, we create a polystyrene cast of your body. This cast serves as a three-dimensional model, ensuring your garment will fit you flawlessly. We then draw a design tech plan based on your cast, ensuring that the garment is tailored precisely to your unique proportions.

Stage 3: Sourcing and Cutting Material

In this stage, we source the finest materials for your garment. If we don’t have the required fabric in stock, we work with trusted suppliers to acquire it. Once we have the materials, we begin the cutting process, laying the design tech plan onto the cast to ensure the perfect fit. Adjustments are made to accommodate specific needs, like wider bands for added support or extra hook-and-eye closures. Every step is followed by quality assurance to maintain our high standards.

Stage 4: First Prototype

Our expert corsetiers handcraft the first prototype of your garment. This stage is where your design starts to take shape. We focus on perfection, knowing that even the smallest detail makes a significant impact. After the prototype is created, our experts meticulously examine it against your cast to ensure the perfect fit. We never compromise on quality.

Stage 5: Creation of Final Garment

Using the measurements and feedback from the prototype, we create your final garment. This stage requires precision and careful attention to detail, as this is the piece you’ll receive. Our artisans work with the utmost care, ensuring that the final product meets our exacting standards for quality, design, and fit.

Stage 6: Quality Assurance

Quality assurance is the final step before shipping. We believe in creating garments that exceed your expectations, and this stage is where our experts examine every inch of your garment to ensure it’s flawless. Each garment is signed off by our quality assurance team, indicating that it meets our rigorous standards.

Stage 7: Shipping

After six weeks of dedicated craftsmanship by our team of experts, your bespoke garment is ready for you. The culmination of our combined experience of over 100 years is delivered to your doorstep by DHL Express. We take pride in knowing that the art and care that went into creating your garment will be appreciated when you finally wear it.

Throughout the entire process, we maintain our commitment to luxury, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. Each stage is a testament to the care and dedication that goes into creating bespoke garments at Beau Affinité. We hope you enjoy wearing your unique piece as much as we enjoyed creating it for you.

The primary difference between “bespoke” and “made to fit” lies in the level of customization and the design process.

  • Bespoke: This term refers to a fully custom garment designed from scratch according to your exact specifications. When you order a bespoke piece, you’re not only providing your measurements but also having a say in the design, fabric selection, style elements, and other personalized details. The process involves a detailed consultation with the designer or tailor to create a unique garment tailored precisely to your desires and requirements. Each bespoke piece is unique and handcrafted to suit the client’s specific taste.

  • Made to Fit: This concept generally involves creating a garment based on existing designs or styles but customized to fit your body measurements. While the design itself may be standard, the garment is tailored to ensure a perfect fit. Made to fit garments offer a higher level of customization than off-the-rack clothing, but they don’t typically involve the same level of design input or customization choices that come with bespoke garments.

In summary, bespoke garments offer a complete customization experience, allowing you to influence the design from start to finish, while made to fit garments focus on tailoring existing designs to your specific measurements for a perfect fit. Both approaches provide a personalized experience, with bespoke being more comprehensive in its customization and made to fit providing a more tailored option than standard sizing.

To arrange a consultation with our designers for a bespoke garment, simply schedule an appointment when placing your order. These sessions are conducted via Zoom and typically last about forty minutes. During the consultation, our designers will guide you through a personalized exploration of your style preferences, learning about your personality, your desired image, and the purpose behind the garments you envision.

This one-on-one interaction is designed to be an immersive and enjoyable experience, allowing our designers to get a sense of your unique character and fashion aspirations. After this initial discussion, they will create three distinct mock designs tailored to your specifications. A follow-up discussion will ensure the designs align with your expectations, giving you the opportunity to request any changes or adjustments.

Once you’ve signed off on your chosen design, we will gather your measurements and begin the process of bringing your bespoke garment to life. Our goal is to craft a piece that truly reflects your individuality, ensuring it is as unique and elegant as you are.
